Who we are

About Us

A registered PNG benefit association growing food security with practical agri-technology.

Who we are

Technology for Papua New Guinea’s next 50 years.

PNG Beyond50 Foundation Inc. is a registered PNG benefit association based in Port Moresby. We bring practical, affordable technology to farmers, youth and communities, so that development reaches the village and not just the city.

We are starting where the need is greatest and the payoff is fastest: food and farming. Our first technology is the black soldier fly, which turns food waste into animal feed and fertiliser. From there we are building a pipeline of emerging agriculture technologies that PNG farmers can own and run themselves.

Our vision

A food-secure, self-reliant Papua New Guinea, where every community can use technology to build its own future.

Our mission

To support PNG’s development agenda by putting proven, low-cost agri-technology in the hands of farmers, youth and women, beginning with black soldier fly farming.

Our values
  • Local ownership. Communities run what we build.
  • Practical first. Simple tools that work here.
  • Accountable. Two signatories on every payment.
  • Inclusive. Youth and women at the centre.
Aligned with the national plan

How we complement the Medium Term Development Plan IV (2023–2027).

MTDP IV sets PNG’s path to a K200 billion economy by 2030. Its targets need growth that reaches rural people. Our work supports six of its twelve Strategic Priority Areas.

  • 0new jobs

SPA 1 · How we contribute

Strategic Economic Investments

Agriculture, livestock and fisheries are named growth sectors. Black soldier fly larvae give poultry, pig and fish farmers a locally made protein feed, cutting a major imported cost and helping small farms grow into businesses.

SPA 4 · How we contribute

Quality Education and Skilled Human Capital

Every unit we build comes with hands-on training. We work with schools, Unitech and NARI so young people learn practical agri-tech skills they can use at home or turn into jobs.

SPA 9 · How we contribute

Research, Science and Technology

We test new technology in PNG conditions and share the data. Our BSF work supports the national effort, led by NARI and NISIT, to set a PNG standard for insect farming.

SPA 10 · How we contribute

Climate Change and Natural Environment Protection

Food waste eaten by larvae does not rot in dumps and release methane. Frass fertiliser rebuilds soils, and local feed cuts the emissions of shipping imported grain and fishmeal.

SPA 11 · How we contribute

Population, Youth and Women Empowerment

BSF units are small, safe and close to home, which suits youth and women’s groups. Selling larvae, feed and frass creates income in the village rather than in town.

SPA 12 · How we contribute

Strategic Partnerships

We bring together government, development partners, researchers, companies and communities, so that good pilots can be funded, scaled and handed over to local leaders.

Our technology pathway

Starting with black soldier fly. Building towards a full agri-tech toolkit.

Each technology is tested in PNG conditions, costed for smallholders and handed over with training.

  1. Now

    Black soldier fly farming

Waste-to-feed and fertiliser units for farmers, schools and towns, starting with the Edai Town facility.

    See how it works
  2. Next

    Climate-smart and precision farming

Soil testing, weather information and simple sensors that help farmers plant, feed and harvest at the right time.

  3. Next

    Solar drying and storage

Low-cost solar dryers and cool storage to cut post-harvest losses for larvae, produce and cash crops.

  4. Later

    Digital markets and traceability

Mobile tools for prices, records and traceable supply chains, linking village producers to buyers.
